Spurgeon’s College is a recognised centre for theological education and ministerial formation in the Baptist and evangelical traditions, providing research-led teaching, and granting awards validated by the Universities of Manchester and Chester.
It plays a leading role in training men and women for both ordained and lay Christian ministries and supporting the growing church in London and the UK, as well as providing opportunities for research. Located in South London, the College has a reputation for excellence with its full-time, part-time and online courses.
The Principal directs all aspects of the College’s work and will be responsible forcontinuing to develop and improve Spurgeon’s innovative ministerial formation, church leadership training, teaching and research programmes and for leading the College as it responds to the rapidly changing and highly competitive external environment in which it operates. The Principal is a member of the tutorial staff and will participate in teaching.
The Governors seek an outstanding candidate with a demonstrable record of significant academic achievement and with the skills and experience needed simultaneously to lead and manage the College’s internal development whilst representing the College externally. There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the Principal to be a Christian and a member of a Baptist Church.
The appointment starts on 1 September 2013.
